Diane Denoir — a subtle, intimate voice, and a forerunner of bossa-nova in Uruguay — continues to be an important icon of popular music in Uruguay today.

Her beginnings as a singer, accompanied by the emblematic Uruguayan musician and composer Eduardo Mateo, as well as her musical compositions, have earned her recognition in the specialized press and among important singers, musicians and Latin American poets.

Borned in Uruguay of Austrian parents and educated in a French school, Diane Denoir croons Bossa-nova equally well in Portuguese, English or French, giving the Brazilian genre a character as universal as jazz.

Diane Denoir has recorded several albums published by Uruguayan and Argentinean labels. The most outstanding are the CD “Unpublished Diane Denoir-Eduardo Mateo” and « Diane Denoir » in vinyl, which was re-edited as a CD in July 2005 in Buenos Aires under the Indice Virgen & VadeRetro Records labels. This CD immediately generated very positive comments from music critics in Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Japan.

Her most recent production, « Quien te viera » published by the Argentinean label Acqua Records in September 2008, with arrangements and musical direction by Daniel « Lobito » Lagarde, features  famous Uruguayan, Argentinean and Spanish musicians.

In this latest production, Diane journeys through a range of songs by varied authors, confirming once more her personal style and her interpretative quality.
